Charged
Line Advance
This component tests leg and lower body strength, balance,
and endurance.
Description
You must pick up a charged 1 3/4" line and advance
it 100 feet. The line is charged to 100 pounds of water pressure.
Preparation Tips
To prepare
for this event, you might tie a 20-foot rope to a bag or object weighing approximately
150 pounds. You can then throw the end of the rope over your shoulder, grasp
it, and drag the weight a distance of 100 feet. Keep in mind that the weight
of the charge line increases as you approach the finish line. In preparing for
this exercise, you should be aware that you will be wearing a self-contained
breathing apparatus weighing 30 pounds.
